We stayed at this RV park for a Spring break so we could visit Fredericksburg.   It is located a couple of miles away from main street.   You could bike ride it and it would be a decent walk. 
Fredericksburg is an awesome town to visit.   We had dinner at a couple of old style German restaurants, did some shopping, and visited the Nimitz Museum.   The girls went a did a Winery tour and had a good time.

As for as the RV park goes, it was OK.   The locations is it's best asset.   The park is basically a parking lot.   There isn't much space in-between sites.  One section had some grass and trees, but most of the park was gravel.   There was a putting green, horseshoes and a good size swimming pool (closed for the season), and dog park.  

Overall, it was OK.   If you are expecting a State Park style park, you will be disappointed.

LCRA Park

We spent a Winter break here after Christmas.   It is a short one hour drive from Round Rock and is right next to the Lost Pines Scout Reservation.   The park is on the north shore of lake Bastrop.  Lake Bastrop is a 900 acre warm water lake.   There is a power plant on the lake.    It way too cold to enjoy the water, but the park does rent canoes and kayaks and has a large boat ramp with parking.   Most of the traffic through the park was fishing rigs using the boat ramp.  

There are only 17 RV sites and are not very big.   The pads are not level but are in decent shape.   Most of the sites are pull thru.   It was off season and the park still had a few RV visitors.

Our score is a 7 out of 10.

We were not too impressed with this state park.  It seemed a little run down.   Most of the asphalt camp site pads were broken and were eroded away.  It is a large park with over 130 camping spots.  We were in the Post Oak loop and it took a while to get to our campsite from the gate.  The boat ramp and fishing dock are also a good drive away from the gate and camping sites (10 minute drive).   We did do some fishing and caught a few small sun fish.  The lake is a warm water lake because of the TXU Big Brown Power Plant.   Fishing is supposed to be pretty good and is stocked with Redfish.  

Dissappointed the fish dock is located several miles away from the camp sites.   At least a 5-10 minutes drive.   Bummed out that there wasn't a park store or bait shop.   When we ran out of worms we were done.   The nearest store / town is twenty minutes away.

The lake looked good and there were several boats in the water including someone doing some wakeboarding.   There is a power plant on the other side of the lake but we couldn't hear it.

There were a few camping spots on the water, but the shoreline wasn't cleared and you could barely see the lake.   We did notice lots of kids and several families camping together.  The spots are close enough to do a reunion or group camp out.


I'll give it a 5 out of 10

Purtis Creek State Park

 This is a small State Park with about 60 camping spots.   The spots are in good shape and most of them had shade.   The park sits on a small fishing lake.   They do allow boats but keep a maximum of 50 boats on the lake at any one time.   The park was busy and most of the spots were occupied.   If you don't hit the lake early, you could be waiting for a while for boats to come off the lake once the 50 boat max capacity is met.

The had a small park store and rented canoes and kayaks.   Hardly anyone was in their campsite.   They were out, swimming, paddling, fishing boating, bird watching or hiking.

We enjoyed this park and would recommend it for a short stay.  

We give it a 8 out 10.
